iLight

What:

This device is part of Singapore’s Smart City 2015 Plan

How:

Using our IoT device, we facilitate the transmission and exchange of data between street lights for analytical purposes.

The IoT device, found in the street lights, uses a NEMA 7-pin photocontrol interface, with a built-in ZigBee communication protocol, and 4G LTE high-speed wireless in the Gateway.

Why:

Environmental data is processed in real-time to control the precise amount of light needed. This will help Singapore conserve more energy and power in the future.

By adopting a “use only what we need” mentality powered with data analytics and IoT technology, we are headed for a more sustainable future.

IoT Trash Bin Sensor

What:

We collaborated with a waste management company to design, develop and manufacture a Smart Trash Bin using innovative IoT technology.

How:

We mounted our IoT device onto the trash bins in an innovative design that forms a mesh network. Multiple sensors such as a fill sensor, smell sensor, and weight sensor can then be easily connected to our IoT device.

Why:

To optimize the waste collection and management process, the IoT device records and sends data collected directly to the control centre. Analysing this data will enable a more efficient planning process involving the route and scheduling of waste collection services as well as developing a proper human flow analysis to make valued judgements in the future.

IoT Smart Magazine

What:

The Smart Magazine is a firearm magazine-like sound generator that produces the sound of live rounds when triggered while simulating the standard firing procedures. An accurate training simulator in the exact size and shape of a rifle magazine for use during training exercises.

How:

We designed the trigger mechanism and sound generating device in the Smart Magazine to be mounted in the firearm without any modification to the rifle itself.

Complete with ZigBee communication protocol, NFC and Bluetooth 3.0 for seamless data exchange and connectivity to other sensors, this device comes with built-in IoT capability.

Why:

The objective of the Smart Magazine is to eliminate the need to fire blanks making it a safer and more accurate option to simulate target shooting.

Automated TSS Monitoring System

What:

We formulated an Automated TSS Monitoring System with a leading environmental agency — that comprised of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) sensors and CCTVs installed at water discharge points in construction sites.

How:

The remote panel PC will transmit TSS readings of the sensors back to a centralized server via 3G technology. The CCTVs are connected to the 3G router at the site to allow users to view real-time video and 5 mins interval snapshots via the web application we designed and developed. An SMS alert will be sent automatically to site supervisors if the TSS reading reaches a preset threshold.

Why:

This system we created is a more reliable way to manage and monitor the water content discharged at construction sites. The real-time video and 5-minute interval snapshots allow users to maximise their time while simultaneously ensuring the TSS readings are reasonable. The instant SMS alert that is sent automatically ensures this system provides an effective safety net to be in place at all times in case of emergencies.
